Connect (revision)

**revision of last weeks poem, Connect

Sitting alone in the lunch room, with dreams
of a genuine friendship filling my head,
someone to cry and smile with,
another body to connect with mine
in the simplest sense of the phrase.

Another day, another period of solitude.
Then a shadow was cast on the floor beside me,
little did I know who it belonged to.
Someone to smile and cry with.

I sit in the lunch room once again,
the same round table as all those years ago.
I glance over at the lonely girl across from me,
remembering the feeling of solitude i felt.
I walked over and casted my shadow next to her.

  1. i felt the sadness in your poem. I love how you brought about a memory of your childhood through the child sitting next to you. It was very moving and touching.
